Stays
Stays will be carried out as a group exercise or individually, at the judge's discretion. Lower levels require a Sit Stay with Down Stay required at higher levels. Expert Stay will be the judge's choice.
At the lower levels the dogs are on lead. At Intermediate and above there will be increasing levels of distraction during the stay.
Dogs will need to be taught not only to stay but also to do so whilst a distraction is added. This is a progressive exercise and can be taught as such and only when dogs are totally reliable at the lowest level should they move up to the next.
This test is all about confidence so should be taught with patience and without any attempt at force.
