Down Stay
Stays will be carried out as a group exercise and at all levels are in the down position and the duration will increase with the levels.
At the lower levels the dogs are on lead and up to Intermediate level handlers will be in sight at increasing distance from their dogs.
From Intermediate Level onwards handlers will be out of sight of their dogs, but will be within calling distance in the event of any movement by their dog.
Dogs will need to be taught not only to stay but also to do so in the proximity of other dogs. This is a progressive exercise and can be taught as such and only when dogs are totally reliable at the lowest level should they move up to the next.
This test is all about confidence so should be taught with patience and without any attempt at force.
